What Is Validation?

Validation is a way of caring for and communicating with older adults who are often diagnosed as having Alzheimer’s-type dementia. Developed by Naomi Feil, a social worker known throughout North America and Europe for her breakthrough approach to elderly care, Validation promotes empathy on the part of the caregiver, communication to reduce stress and increase happiness, and dignity during the final stages of life.
